The Joint Program in English and American Studies

The Joint Program in English and American Studies offers students pursuing a Master’s in English Literature or Language & Literacy at CCNY the opportunity to spend a semester abroad at one of the five partner institutions (the University of Graz, Austria; the University of Pécs, Hungary; the University of Bamberg, Germany; the Ca’Foscari University of Venice, Italy; and the University of Paris-Denis Diderot, France) as part of their coursework. Funding is often available. Students must have completed at least two semesters before the “mobility” semester abroad, but should consider applying as soon as possible. For more detailed information see https://www.ccny.cuny.edu/english/jointdegree (Deadline for the next round of applications will be in Spring 2019)    

Graz International Summer School

Graz International Summer School at Seggau Castle is now accepting applications. Students who are interested in going to Austria for this program should contact their respective program advisor to make sure credit can be transferred in to your graduate program. After that, please see us to discuss the next steps, contacts, etc. Dates are usually the first two weeks of July.

Semester in Venice

The English Department (with help from the Erasmus+ Fund and Ca’ Foscari University – Venice) is now accepting applications for a one-semester period to be spent studying full-time at Ca’ Foscari University, Venice, Italy, in Spring 2017. The successful applicant will spend 6 months in Venice, receiving 850 Euros per month and an additional 1100 Euros towards travel expenses to and from Venice.

Graduate students can apply by filling out the APPLICATION FORM and submitting it, along with the required additional documentation, to Prof. Andras Kisery, via email attachment.

Further information can be found in the CALL FOR APPLICATIONS. The additional documents required for the application are listed under Art. 6.2. of the Call. Students should consult with their graduate program advisor to make sure that the selected courses will count as eligible transfer credits toward their program, and fill out a LEARNING AGREEMENT form.

Venice Opportunity  

The English Department (with help from the Erasmus+ Fund and Ca’ Foscari University – Venice) has secured funding (850 euros a month for 6 months & 1100 euros for the travel expenses) to send two students (MFA, Joint Degree MA, Language and Literacy MA, Literature MA) to Ca’ Foscari in fall 2016.  The call for applications is posted here. The application form can be downloaded from here.   Please note: In order to be eligible (and as all students should do before taking any non-CCNY courses for credit), students must speak with their graduate program advisor and get written permission that the selected courses will count as eligible transfer credits toward your program.
